Hi Roland, I'm really sorry to hear about your problems. A good SEO should be able to guarantee a minimum of results, and they should certainly be able to guarantee that you won't get penalized by Google as a result of their work. Took a look at your website, and yes, it could use a little help. :)

Basic SEO will always put you ahead of the guys that aren't doing it. Knowledgeable web marketing can make a staggering difference to your business online (this includes SEO). I don't care what anyone else tells you, this is a fact.

im going through the learning curve (i mean PAIN) myself with my company golforbis.com (sorry for the plug in) and it s very difficult to know what works what doesnt and so on...
friggin google (they own the world) put a "this website may hurt your computer " note below my website result because the server got attacked. i could not log into my own website for weeks! luckily it got fixed, but it shows how fragile your cyberspace "business" is. google can make u or break u in no time. same goes for those SEO companies promising u the world. We just had the world SEO conference where everyone pretty much agreed that there is no guarantee for results by doing SEO "stuff" , but u can accidentally hurt your own business by doing it, and loose out on revenues by not doing it.

Your comment on people not realizing what they say when they are on Twitter or other sites can not be more true. While their intention may perhaps be a marketing perspective if they are not careful they really get themselves in trouble with some of the comments they make. People need to be focused on the reason for why they are in these areas to comment and forget any personal issues that may come up when making "conversation".

You are right on the money here. I am working on some article series explaining how and why Twitter is valuable for CPA firms. If you look at the world from their perspective it is something they need to spend time on and if they do, it is important they understand the end benefit...if not it will not happen. Overall, I think early adopters will benefit the most from this tool when/if they implement it correctly.

Hi, yes you always get early-adopters and others who take a bit longer to warm to new concepts in any new branch of online technology. We've been hearing for years now about how Twitter is a fabulous business tool, but as you say, not so many people know how to connect the dots. Time for an info package I think. :)

Having attended the #aamaustin I can tell you there was a lot of good information presented on Twitter and other social media tools. What is missing is the connection between the tools and how accounting firms leverage the tool to increase branding, leverage their niches and idenitify new buisness. We are working on developing a clear set of benefits that appeal to the more progressive accounting partners. I think the reality is certain CPA's will take a longer period than others to make the leap:)

Yes - you can have a million links, rank #1 for a top term...and so what. If people are not converting you aint making money. Analytics is as important.

Suprised more top guys are not using crazy egg...it looks great and about to give it a try.

Awesome . . . my company (SEOmoz) is at the top of the list.

We use Enquisite at the office, but most of the employees use Google Analytics on their personal blogs (me included).

Also, though traffic and clicks are important in tracking success, links are really the most important metric to SEOs. Quality links with relevant anchor text is what's going to make you rank well and generate traffic.

Hi, nice to see you here! I absolutely agree with you: but what I'm saying is we should be aware that he's not going to give us everything we want to know about issues that hinge directly on how Google treats our pages. :) I also agree he's a very knowledgeable guy and fascinating to listen to.

He may not give away secrets but I have to admit that some of the best SEO tips (things I should have known) I've gotten have been from Matt. Not that I won't listen to what others have to say as well, but if several SEOs teach me something, and Matt says it's a good practice, I'm likely to adopt it.
